South Swell en Santa Cruz

photo 1 (1)

Enjoy!!

I left Friday morning soon for Santa Cruz. Expected a weekend of many good waves. It was coming a powerful south swell that would leave more than two meters waves for a couple of days.

I arrived and looked some different spots and I decided to go out in Pleasure Point. The show was amazing: perfect straight lines, the dream of any regular surfer.  The waves were amazing in the main peak, powerful, large and suitable for experienced surfers only. There were many pros and it was scary.

I decided to go out between Pleasure Point and the Hook, in the middle of the beach. There were many people along the lines, making catch a wave a very difficult mission.  You had to be in the right position, a little on the inside and hoping nobody take it, or that the srufer riding from far fell or get a close out.

Another big problem was that every quarter hour were coming big sets, about 3 meters waves. And if you were caught in the inside you were dead… and the consequence was to have like 5 or 6 bombs on your head… I ate a couple of sets and the truth was that it makes you want to get in.

Even so it was a fun day, I took some long straight rights where I could do some good turns …

The only bad thing was the people, hundreds of people catching waves, and there people are so good. From 14 years old kids that rip like hell to the tipical guy in his 40´s, local who takes all the waves…

I was there untilSunday, where the swell picked down and it was a really fun surf weekend.

On this website you can see a lot of good pictures from Friday morning and you can see from other days in other spots. Enjoy!

¡Recomendado!!
